I think we can safely put the D word to bed now  in gardening terms :D

For now, at least  ;)

You might, Victoria, but I wish I could. Not exactly a drought atm, as it keeps spitting every so often, but all 7 water butts are still empty, I went round them this morning with a watering can and managed to obtain 1 and half can fulls out of all of them.

Hopefully Arh, you'll get a big dollop tomorrow evening looking at it. But I do know what you mean, sometimes the only front around for weeks can pass parts by with just a dribble. My Summer greyhound cabbages seem like they have almost doubled in size overnight.

There is definitely a drought in my postcode. We have had little more than a couple of feeble showers in 7 weeks. the forecast says we should get some decent rainfall on Wednesday night........I will believe it when I see it.

We had light rain yesterday and wind today blew it dry again. The finger test in the garden soil had me taking out the watering can for planting out small things today. Allotment stuff in trays growing on for planting out happy but ground had only had dust laid.

There was a picture of the river at Corbridge which was so badly hit by Storm Desmond back in 2015/6 in the last few days showing the river so low that people can walk across it now. It's no small river and it's just up the road from me.

.

We had a dry spell here in windy Gloucester, never a drought, the lawns were still green, and now with the amount of rain that has fallen, the grass is growing away!

I have had one blue barrel in the allotment filled, and more predicted over the next two days, a yellow warning is predicted!

The cabbage, cauli and kohl rabi plants are looking good!
STOP, and smell the roses!

Thank you for that Victoria, It certainly rained last night, the sound of the rain running into the water butt by my bedroom window woke me up at 0400,, that's how empty it was. Still raining now but only lightly compared to last night, but still heavier than in the last month. Perhaps the lawns will turn green again now.

After the last 36 hours the aquifers should have had a good top up.   :)  The soil is certainly lovin' it, and now the sunshine should make everything (inc the lawn) romp away!  :) :)

Was that enough rain for you?  :D Rained all day in Horsham, lots of surface water on roads and pavements.

Certainly was. Luvvly jubbly. Now I feel the season will start especially with the lovely sunshine today. I haven't time for the lotty today, but when I go tomorrow I am sure I will have a lovely crop of weeds😂

Sunshine disappeared ad showery weather arrived. It is now chucking it down and is set to continue all day tomorrow. It's all or nothing apparently 😏
