New apple tree for free

... and where is it? (inside or out?)

I've had a couple of fruit trees start to flower well out of season (usually because of a very mild autumn/winter) but not in the middle of a winter like we have had this time!

As for compatible pollinators, you might be surprised as there may be an apple tree in someone elses's garden.  Only after I had planted all my fruit trees and one Bramley seedling did I realise that I needed one in that group.  Too late to buy another but miraculously it produced fruit that year!  Then one day I spied a Bramley 2 doors away.  To be on the safe side, I got another the following year.

My tree's still dry and dormant. I guess I'll need to stick it in water or a pot of soil while I think where we can put it? Same with the grape vine?

Any thoughts? I kind of figured that it would stay dormant until February at the earliest.

It's going in the garden RR and there are other crabs around.

Yes, they both should be dormant, keep outside or somewhere very cold and if don't know when they go in, heel them in, just anywhere, so the roots don't get frozen or dry.

They're in the shed at the mo - so very cold.

Whoever said don't expect any sympathy from a physio never spoke a truer word.  :(

Ditto and soak the roots for a couple of hours before planting if you can.
