January update..... just to say that I did not loose my leeks, they recovered and many are still in the ground, they are not huge, I am picking the largest first and stripping the top layers or so of leaves which show some rust, they then present a good white stem that smells and tastes great.  Glad I left them to themselves to see if they would recover. Thanks for the advice.

My leeks are still very small, picked some yesterday. By the time they had been cleaned they were only about 6ins and the thickness of about 2 pencils but still made lovely soup. I was very late planting them,  some of mine got rust. Will use them whole steamed for dinners.

My leek crops usually get quite a bit of rust.  However this year, I have grown the same varieties, Bleu de Solaise and Jaunes de Poitou as usual, and not a spot of rust anywhere.

Wondering why this could be, especially as it has been relatively warm and wet.   I planted at the same density too.
