As I just got a new allotment we've had loads of rain the ground is saturated how do I get rid of the new grass coming up after I turned it over is this a common problem as I can't stand on it they say this when you turn it over so what's the best way to get on top of it thanks

You will just have to be patient and wait for the soil to dry out a bit. I usually try and get a bit dug between Christmas and New Year, but this year all I have done is been down to harvest and look.

It really isn't worth compacting the soil bt getting on it when wet.

Almost a bit like sowing seeds...........just because the packet says you can sow between x date and y date doesn't mean the weather is appropriate for sowing.
