Hiya
We planted 8 asparagus crowns about two months ago and they still haven't broken through the soil. Do they take a while or have they failed?

Thanks  :)
Herbie

They do take a while.  They will probably be growing roots.  Given then another month, if they still haven't shown carefully excavate one so see what is going on.

Mine were very late the season that I planted them. Give them time.

Have a dig around with your bare hands and fingers,  go gently and see if there is any sign of life.  I had one that took a while longer than the others to come up,  the majority were up in less than 2 weeks.

How deep did you plant them ?  meaning the tops of the crown below the surface of the soil ?

I planted mine a couple of months ago too and they all, except one, have grown a thin stalk.  But the latest one to appear only showed a few days ago, so they might come up yet.

Hang on in there. Mine took 3-4 months to show.
You need to wait a couple of years to harvest so time isn't critical present
