New area added to my plot - still working on plans for layout. Want to have this area primarily for fruit and current area for veg. Area is roughly 60 sq.m. Current plot is about 82 sq.m. So a useful addition. Shed is a communal facility, but area to the right of the shed is mine, so space to put another shed there, or some decking and a parasol!

When we first got out plot at the start of May. We were very lucky that it had been well run up until the previous autumn..half of it has even been dug over ready for the spring and we inherited a lot of standing leeks and a very well established strawberry bed  :D

And how it's looking now. I'd have liked it better organised, but it was a mad rush to get everything in..

There is not necessarily anything wrong with doing things that are profitable. It is when "profit" becomes the dominant motive that the cycle of disaster begins.

Well I hesitate to put our pics amoung all your beautiful plots, but when you see what is surrounding us you can see what we are up against.
We finally had the new allotment officer to look at the site and it is official it is the worst in the borough and she doesn't know where to start!
We were given a gold start for what we had done in 3/4 years. It is thick sticky London clay, and we are plagued with the local cats and foxes who defecate and dig things up but we are beginning to make headway and are learning constantly with each new thing we try.

And... you can what we are surrounded by.
The pics of the blackberries was what we started with. The whole plot was covered in brambles as tall as me and we were told to carve ourselves a plot. Which is what we did.

Wow - everyone's plots look lovely. Here are my before and after pics. Quite pleased with progress in my first year and I'm looking forward to getting stuck in again in the autumn and carry on digging. I've been delighted with the progress, how much I have learnt (mostly from here - thank you) and also how much veg we have grown, I just want to do more more more!

Really proud when I see what it was like when I got it compared to now.

Not a plot just my garden.

Moved in June so deturfing was the first job in mid June.

To the left I have sweet corn, leeks under fleece and carrots surrounded by fleece.

Glad with the outcome given the fact everything went in quite late.
