I have finished picking all the pods off my broad bean plants now but is it worth leaving the bare plants in the ground and digging them in when they have died down? I know you can do this with dwarf beans but are broad beans the same?

I cut the stems/leaves and pile them in the compost bin. I just leave the root system in the ground.

I do that too but do be careful not to trip over the remaining stumps of stem (like wot I have done )

Last year I cut them down and left the stumps in the ground and they started growing again.  I maybe could have got a second crop, but I was fed up with them and the weather by that time.
