Just wanted to share.  Made a new compost bin today (the third) and forked stuff out of the first one into the new empty one to give it a turn.  And halfway down I found compost, all crumbly and brown...very proud.  I'm sure I could have made compost in less than 18 months if I'd done more than just chuck everything in the bin. But it has rotted down... eventually.

Well done! A lot of people seem to have trouble making good compost but if you get a good mix of green and brown materials it should work. Like most things in gardening, it pays to be patient and not see it as a chore. I actually enjoy digging into my big heap at the start of each season and rubbing the crumbly goodness through my fingers. I know, I should get more!

Well done you!  Now, make some more now you've got the hang of it. You can never have too much    The sun has an amazing effect on your compost bin and it really begins to cook quickly.

Well done! It is such a satisfying cycle. Garden and kitchen waste goes into compost bin. Compost comes out and fills containers and raised beds. Veg are planted in them which grow and feed family and once done go into next compost bin with waste from the kitchen....

You can never have too much as next year you can just plant more

We have a bin full with three super squash in the top, will be brilliant come winter.
Tonight we are starting off pallet bin number two.  happy days
