My sweetcorn went out, they had to they did nothing in the pots, the cool weather doesn't seem to have bothered them but the wind does.

I have some bubble wrap should I make a bubble wrap wind break, would it be worth doing or will these be on their way up to the great veg heaven in the sky.

I've got plastic bottle cloches for mine still as they are only 8 inches high or so. One person on the plot had corn nearly 2 ft high already!

Hi Guys,

Sorry to hijack the thread

I have today prepared the ground for the sweetcorn, well dug it over anyway. I will run over it with my honda tiller before planting. The ground is fresh and has never been planted before apart from weeds  :tongue2:

I was wondering should I chuck a good few handfulls of chicken manure pellets on top of the soil now so it starts to break down and get watered in or wait and shove some in the bottom of the hole when planting?

Thanks

Mark

You can do either, but there's no harm in doing both - some in the planting hole will feed the initial root ball but as the roots spread out, the rest of the soil will be fertile too.
