Blueberry Advice
« on: May 14, 2013, 11:35 »
I have a 2 year old Goldtraub bush and have just received 3 tiny Pinkberry bushes. I had the Goldtraub in the ground but have now transferred it to a large pot (about 45cm) where it looks much happier. I have placed one of the Pinkberries in an identical pot next to it. The long term plan is to find another pot for one of the other pinkberries and take the other down to the plot, but I am wondering if it would actually be better to plant them in an intermediate sized pot (say a flower bucket or smaller ~20cm) to get established. They are ony about 6 inches tall at the moment. Any other suggestions welcome.

cheers

The only reason to go for the smaller pot first is your own convenience really. Put it this way, planting in your garden is just like planting in the worlds biggest plant pot and you'd not hesitate to plant them direct if that's what you wanted for them.

Bigger pots are heavier, but provide a more stable environment in terms of nutrients and moisture. Entirely up to you.
