Germinating Cabbage and Cauliflower
« on: April 27, 2013, 14:41 »
Hi all, I recently sowed some cabbage and cauliflower seeds and am keeping them in an outside coldframe at the moment.
Do they need to be in the coldframe to germinate atall? Im aware that they dont mind the cold and hate the heat but im a bit unsure whether to just plonk them outside in the patio or not.

You can put them outside, but germination could be a bit slower in colder conditions - but they should still come up eventually - the same as if you sowed them direct in the soil

I start mine off in a cold greenhouse, then put into my coldframe once germinated.  They are about 4 inches high now, so hopefully will go out in the next week or so.
