I reckon someone laced Henry's Ribena with vodka last night     I think all of these are blackcurrant varieties.  :)

Well even I've learnt something here.  My blueberries have gone a lovely red colour which I thought was a disease.  Of course, it's just autumn!

Never mind that, MK, what do you reckon about planting them out?

The BLUEBERRY is very frost tolerant.
Plants should be pruned at this time of year.
If planting then the best results can be had by digging a hole and putting in it coarse sand, sawdust, moss peat and soil.
They should be planted about 5 foot apart and spring or autumn are the correct time to plant out.
The plants should be about 2-3 years old to make the best crop for the following season.
When watering its a good idea to water the ground and try not to wet the stems.
I was always told to use soft water if you live in a hard water area.(this advice was given for soft fruits blueberries are relatively new).

If a plant is in a pot, surely that makes it more prone to damage by frost as the roots are more exposed :?:

Wild blueberries grow on wild hills (as far as I remember from days of yore) but are densely packed on peaty loamy stuff so perhaps their roots are well insulated and the tops more frost resistant.

Can't resist a theory...

Thanks, folks, out they go with peat and all. I'm going to plant where manure has been delivered for 2 decades, hoping soil is more acidic there than anywhere else.

Shall report, how soon they died
