broad beans
« on: October 06, 2012, 23:24 »
I have got some broad beans but i am unable to plant them direct as their space is not prepared yet- will be a few weeks yet.
Can I start them in 3" pots and if so do i leave them outside in a sheltered area or over winter in an unheated gh.

thanks

We'll be planting them in pots, DMG, and there will be 36 in paper pots being started off in a few weeks time and planted out when they're sturdy enough - probably under cloches for a while, and then under netting.

Keep them supported too, as wind, snow etc can bend them over, and the slugs can get them!

We'll do the first 36 this year, and some more early next year!

An unheated greenhouse will be fine for them!
