If AR have now been swallowed up by the competition, has anyone else on here used Kings Seeds?  I have just been given a copy of their catalogue and they give discount to NSALG members.  Their prices seem midway between T&M and AR so I am thinking to give them a go.  They also have some nice looking asparagus plants I am tempted to buy.

Hi Angela, the allotment site I am on uses Kings so I have had an awful lot of their seeds and have found them to be no better, no worse than any other branded variety, and generally for vegeatables I find them all pretty good. Done through the allotment society there is a pretty good discount. :)
Our allotment society uses them (reduced price and the allotment society gets a small commission) and I have found them fine for seeds.  All you would hope for in germination and the range is generally traditional, so if you want something a bit out of the ordinary in the veg line they may not have it.  £1.10 for 45 white lady seeds at allotment soc prices.

Suffolk Herbs are the same company if you have any experience of them?

I was disappointed with seed potatoes from them 3 years ago, very bruised and with a lot of failures.  It might have been the carriers fault, but I learnt a lesson and always buy my seed potatoes from some where local from the sack to avoid postage damage.

Thanks for this, that is useful to know.  I am undecided what to do about potatoes next year - I think I will only grow Charlottes as I have had such bad luck with blight, I am loathe to waste room on later crops, in which case, I can buy them almost anywhere.

Thanks Ann, this is useful also as feedback.  I wasn't going to place a huge order, just a "plugging the gaps" order as I bought a few packets in the recent 50p sale at the local GC.

This message is now on the T & M website.

Alan Romans in association with Thompson & Morgan

Alan Romans and Thompson & Morgan have now joined forces and will be working together to ensure that we bring our customers the best new potato varieties and quality potatoes.

Alan lives in Fife, Scotland, the heart of the UK seed potato production area, which allows him to keep a close eye on our seed potato crops for our customers.

Alan has a lifetime’s experience in the seed potato industry and an overwhelming enthusiasm for the humble spud.

So there you are.

What a pity, but I guess the most effective way to stop somebody undercutting your prices.

I use Molesseeds.  They used to supply solely to commercial growers but recently they have branched out and sell to home and allotment growers too.  Some of the packets are a bit on the large side but if you can go in with someone else then ........

It's not actually all that recently, I've been recommending them on here for six years, and using them even longer.

Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

I got a lot of my seeds from them this year. I got tired of getting measly quantity's from other suppliers.  :)
