Still red mite.. Need advice.
« on: August 04, 2012, 22:24 »
I'v still got red mite in the coop and some of them outside the coop.. I prayed it and today after 3 days i could see small white dots very very small.. Like some powder when i sprayed it again it was turning green killing them i guess. I sprayed all over again. Some were coming out n walking about n i sprayed again on top n in all corners knooks. And outside the coop, didn't know they would hide there. I sprayed there aswell.
I dont know what else to do.
I'v been using poultry shield and diatom powder.

Any advice would be appriciated.

Mo

It will take more than three days to clear in infestation; think egg hatching to adult stages.
They do live around the coop so this observation is normal.
Keep it up and you'll soon win.

Hi  if its a warm day and the coop has time to dry before the chickens come back in I did use extremely soapy warm water sprayed everywhere as another thing to stop the mite as it has a waxy coat.  Good luck, mine took a few weeks.   :)

Mo Keep spraying with the poultry shield every three days. It dissolves their wax coating and they dehydrate. It does take time
