I have used Poultry Shield & Diatom on my coop even before I bought the chickens and I still use it regularly.  I use a pump action spray with a long fine nozzle so I can get into all the joints & do it inside & out.  So far I have been lucky & no sign of red mite  but I guess it is eventually going to be a problem.  I was reading about a Predator Mite that you can buy that actually feeds on the Red Mite.  Has anyone any experience of using these??? Ta

No experience but I do remember reading that they will only work on a previously untreated coop (even water can kill the predator mite!)
