McIntosh Red Apple Trees
« on: October 04, 2010, 10:26 »
I am desperately looking for a Mac Red Apple Tree.

I have scoured t'internet and can't find any suppliers in the UK.

I can find related trees like Spartan etc but I really want a couple Mac Reds.

Any suggestions folks?

Thanks in advance...

Keeper's Nursery in Kent are pretty good. Haven't looked however.
The other place I have used is Brogdale.
They house the national collection and have 2 of everything.
They will graft any of what they have on to any rootstock.

What I don't know is if they post.

However as Keepers are close to Brogdale they may be able to get a couple via them and mail.

Should be apple day at Brogdale soon, maybe someone from the forum could pick up and post.

Thanks for the info folks.

But that site doesn't seem to allow me to order them...  :(

The (2 year) search continues!

Why don't they allow you to order them ?

Give them a ring:   01622 726465

They're not far from me.

Just went through the screens it says:
Not available until Winter 2011/12

Suspect that what is meant is that placing an oder now is pointless.

Place around Kings Lynn does fruit trees, cannot recall who, Downham Market perhaps?

Do you grow apple trees already standfree ?

I would have thought Aberdeen rather far North to grow them well.

Brogdale:

http://brogdaleonline.co.uk/

They have the stock and every rootstock you can think of.
They will graft anything to anything.

Ring and ask about getting them sent.
I have only ever collected from there, so no idea of posting.
Probably will not be at the apple day(s) so cannot collect for you and send up.

The brogdale web site isn't easy to find anything on, this page is the Order your trees from us one. If you move away and get lost have fun.

No it's not easy to find I've been looking.

It's a nice place to visit in the summer - Nice tea room (with cake) ;)

I would have thought Aberdeen rather far North to grow them well.

I've only just started but I got a crop off my Worcester Pearmains. I'm due to collect a delivery of RedLove Apples (red flesh etc).

Two reasons I'm desperate to try these out.

1 - I love them. They are the tastiest, crispiest apples you can image. But they are only in-stock for around 1 month.
2 - They thrive in Northern Canada. So hopefully the Aberdeen climate would be suitable.

Thanks SG6 - I'll have a look at Brogdale.

Keepers:

http://www.keepers-nursery.co.uk/product.aspx?id=MCIRED

I've not posted on here in a while (I've been lurking!) and please accept my apologies for bringing this old post back up.

I wanted to thank SG6 for suggesting the above website. After 2 and a half years searching for Mac Red Apple Trees I finally ordered some!

Now I'll just have to wait the same amount of time to get a harvest!

Thanks again SG6!
