hi ya i have herd that seed or potting compost, is good to put in to drills at sowing time, what would be best for this and how deep, i expect you would need a couple of large bags for an average plot ..........pete

It's not necessary if you've already loosened the soil (which is highly recommended) but if you feel you want to, then only an inch or so deep in a half inch wide 'trench' would be needed. the idea is to just keep the immediate area loose for emerging rootlets .
