I'm a bit lost here folks ( like my packet of Kelevdon Wonder peas...and therefore; the instructions )
I planted these about a month ago....and erected a nice frame for them to climb up. 3' canes with string criss-crossed at 3 levels.
But they've just grown a litte bit - maybe 3 inches, and hugged the ground...and now have produced some spindly little pea pods.
Is this right, or has something gone drastically wrong ?
Maybe I need to spebd more time on my veggies, and less time learning to waltz

I rather fear something has gone drastically wrong as I've grown Kelvedon Wonder peas successfully two years on the trot - I think the weather extremes may have something to do with in rather than being down to your gardening skills.
Gardening organically on chalky, stony soil.

I've had devil all success with Kelvedon Wonder either ...

... I planted a row (16ft) with 2/3 peas (KW) and 1/3 mange tout.  The flipping mange tout were up and running, cropping like bejaysus.  The peas ... well I never got more than a dozen plants and not a pea in sight!

And that's the second year KW have failed for me ... there was me blaming the mice and shaking my fist at the compost heap (that's where the lil blighters live!).

I'm trying a different type next year.

Mine were really an afterthought, and I noticed they were a later variety, so I took a chance. Like you wellyclogs, shan't bother with those next time round.
Who can advise a high yield variety for me next year ?

I don't have a lot of experience to compare against but I grew wanadoo heirlooms this year and they looked much better in terms of yield than the others on the site. Will definately be growing them next year if I get a plot.
first there is a mountain then there is no mountain then there is

I planted Mange Tout and most germinated with a wonderful crop which is still producing .
I planted Kelvendon Wonder seeds at the same time.   No luck didn`t germinate not to be beaten I sowed again..still no luck. As it was the only variety I had I tried yet again. Third time....success. Have had a wonderful  heavy crop. Lovely long full pods, good flavour and lots now in the freezer. Will sow again next year but perhaps a little later.

My KW also failed horribly last year, thus no peas this year.
I did plant mangetout - Oregon sugarsnap and can greatly recommend them, that is if they stop producing before I run out of freezer space!

Hi - I planted Kelvedon Wonder, and have had loads of peas of two sowings a month apart - I've only just ripped out the last row of these, as they had mildew.  I assumed they were a good variety?

I also planted some dried peas from my corner shop at the beginning of the month (all the old giffers round here use them), and they're just cropping now with some great little pods that are very nice in a stir-fry   And at 38p for a massive box, they're a lot cheaper too!  I'll leave them alone for a bit to fill out, and we'll see what we get!
