RIP Penny
« on: November 03, 2011, 08:40 »
Woke up this morning to find our lead hen Penny, in her death throws. She had been a bit off colour yesterday, but I was expecting/hoping she'd be ok today. Of the five of them (all ex-batts) she was the one that grew all her feathers back and filled out the quickest, so I'm quite shocked this has happened to her!!!

Needless to say, our youngster has gone off to school this morning in floods of tears, although she rightly said that at least she spent her last days here at the chicken ritz!!!

Your daughter has it in one.  You gave her a wonderful ending to her life and she died in comfort and contentment.  What more could anyone ask for?
When I die I will slide in sideways, a glass of wine in one hand and chocolate in the other, screaming, "Whooo hooo!  What a ride!" as life is to be enjoyed to the fullest!

So sorry to hear about Penny but, yet again, another battery hen was given a taste of the good life and died knowing that there was more to life than a cramped cage and a food shoot!

On behalf of all battery hens - thank you...
