I'm jealous now, mine are all eaten, and some in the freezer.

What variety did you grow to get cobs in late Sept?

Mine were Swift and were ready at the start of August.

How lovely. I plan to grow them next year and have been lucky enough to have tasted the one's grown by others on the allotment. They mainly use swift.
Lynne.

So much to do, but so little time.

Harvested my first sweetcorn today too.

The variety I used is Indian Summer.

This is what it says in the Thompson and morgan catalogue:-
Significantly different in supersweets, unique yellow, white, red and purple kernels which develop a stronger colour as each cob matures. Exceptionally sweet, tender 20cm (8in) cobs full of flavour, add a touch of colour to your dishes. To maintain colour isolate from other sweetcorns.

Must admit the only reason I chose it was, not because of the colouring but because in the T&M sale last year they had been reduce to 85p a packet.  :D

Had them for lunch today and they were delicious.
Oops a daisy!

Did you sow them outside or start them off in pots?

I might do a bit of both next year to try and extend the cropping period.

I chitted mine, then planted in pots in the greenhouse before planting out.

Didn't start them until the middle of May  - don't know if that is a bit late, but they've been really successful. Oh that is apart from the couple of potential plants I lost to mice after they're first night in the greenhouse - little monsters!
