Laying outside the coop
« on: May 12, 2011, 14:18 »
We have two Wyandottes who during the day have the run of the back garden.
The dominant one lays in the nest box.
The other one will go in the box when she is preparing to lay but has recently taken to then going outside at the last instant and laying on the paving slabs.
The egg is then eaten by them.

Any suggestions why??

She could be just being awkward to test you
We have a Bovan Goldline called lucy who sometimes lays in the run even when both nestboxes are vacant, dont know why I think she is just a little devil :)
