Morning,

My polish bantam has started cocking her head back, fluffing up and making this almost cockerell like noise! 

Any ideas on why she might be doing this? She is laying normally. As far as I am aware she has only just started doing this.

Any help/advice would be appreciated!

Hi,

One of my girls has started to do cockerel impressions as well.  It really makes me laugh!   

I'm not sure why they do it, I think I read somewhere that as a chicken gets older and goes off the lay it can produce more male hormones so can start to act in a more masculine manner, but if your chook is still laying then I really don't know.
Hopefully someone more knowledgeable will be along shortly to answer your question properly. 

In the meantime you should try and video her and put her on u-tube!

not quite on topic but I have two hens who mimic the idiots who keep beeping their horns down the road. The first time they did it I thought it was coincidence but they do it all the time now. We rolled over laughing. They have got the tone just riht lol

never thought of that ok I have a dicta phone thingy in the back of the cupboard and i dont need any excuse to sit in the garden and watch my girls lol
