Iv been looking after my moms hens whilst she is away and one of her ex batts has got a lump above her eye, mom said it's been there about three weeks but has gotten a lil bit bigger. She seems happy and health otherwise and the lump doesn't seem to hurt her at all. Has anyone any clues as to what it could be?

Maybe she has knocked against something and there is a foreign body in it - thorn maybe? Have you tried having a look at it to see if it is hard or soft - could it be a peck that has become infected? You won't really know unless you pick her up and have a good look at it. If it looks like an infected wound, bathe it and put a little antiseptic cream on it, but make sure that none of it can get into her eye and that there's not too much cream to attract pecks from the other birds.

It's firm but not hard I'm pretty sure it's not an infection of any sort it's not red or hot like an infection it's just a smooth lump about the size of a baked bean
