i have posted on the topic of lime , now having eelworm , ive been advised to lime the ground during the winter and plant brassicas so far so good , today we went to the hourticultral shop and two garden centres and we got the shrugg of the shoulders and was told to go to the builders yard but the builders yard only sells the runny stuff not powder  and im not yet convinced that its the correct stuff to use.
so i will wait till october when our friend goes to england in his transport an hope he remembers to get me one .
thanks for all your advice , im sure i will have many more problems to solve .
