Horse manure isn't really a problem as horses aren't classed as livestock therefore the manure doesn't fall under existing legislation regarding animal slurry.

Talking of horsey manure two horses came down our road yesterday and left some behind, I was told in no uncertain terms NOT to run out with my shovel.  :(

And legislators think we should take them seriously. Have you ever see the size of a manure heap at a big stables   :roll:

I used to work for SEPA so I know all about the contradictions of the waste legislation!  You can imagine trying to explain all of this to an irate farmer or local resident.  Not fun.  Hence why I left.

Close to Milton Keynes there is a livery that uses the manure mixed with straw to infill the sides of a steep sided hill on his land.I am amazed every time I go there how much he has levelled off in the last 30 years or so. :shock:
