Having planted my spuds today I have been doing a bit of reading and saw Nematodes mentioned.  Because my crop was ravaged by slugs last year I am considering buying them. 

Has anybody else used them and can you advise when to start using them?

Also suffered from blight last year (passed on from my toms) and wondered if I can spray my plants to protect against it?

I have used Nematodes for the last 2 years and can only assume they worked as I had next to no slug damage on the spuds. Previously they got damaged pretty badly. The soil temperature needs to be constantly above 5C  for them work properly so April is the earliest they should be used. In theory they only last for 6 weeks before needing to be re-applied but I only use once per season and try to time it so they protect the last 6 weeks of my early spud crop (applied early to mid May).

I'll be really interested to see what everyone thinks to nematodes as I've often thought about them but never really heard others speak of them much...

I used nematodes on my brassicas which suffered a really badly from cabbage root fly to great success!  Did wonders!  However, used them for caterpillars with little success.  Not sure about slugs... we have alot of frogs around and they seem to keep the number down!
