I usually have to buy new tubers as I've never succesfully saved them but I think I've done OK with last years so, I've read Yabba's advice re: planting them up etc, but (now for the daft bit), if I take cuttings when they've sprouted, will they flower this year as if they'd been grown straight from the tuber?................see, I told you it was daft!! No such thing as a daft question Jude. If you take cuttings of Dahlias now they will definitely flower this year. You will need to protect the cuttings from frost and keep them relatively warm and in good conditions to keep them growing.

Best way to root the cuttings is in a mix of peat moss and sharp sand and place them in clay pots around the edge. If they are kept in warm humid conditions they will root in a couple of weeks.
