Ah, unfortunately you're not allowed to take roadkill that you have killed.

If there is no-one about who's to know anyway?  ;)

My thoughts exactly  :nowink: :nowink:

"Never mind chickens, WHY do Pheasants cross the road?....  Lost count of how many times I have had to stand on my brakes and nearly crashed so I didn't kill one.  Silly things  "

Don't slam on the brakes - it's amazing how they get out the way when you're aiming for them.

I spent months trying to not kill a goose, only to change my mind and miss it every time. Soooo annoying!

Well, They must be thick Pheasants here because there are dead ones all over the roads. (Never been taught the green cross code).  :tongue2:  I would never forgive myself if I killed one. Seemingly they are hand-fed and just wander about waiting to be shot (or run over).  Not much hunting in that I think. Last year I saw a young deer getting knocked down.  Happened to menton it to my next client and it was picked up and fed to his friends dogs within minutes. What a shame.  :(  :(

Deer has to be taken very quickly or it may not be palatable for human consumption and even if retrieved quickly it isn't always, as the bladder etc can be damaged or burst in an impact. :(

Where I worked a few years ago the boss was into hunting and came back with a deer that he wanted prepared for a Burns Supper.  The chefs went mental (health and safety and all that) but they eventually agree to stew it and nobody died that I know of.

I dont see what the problem is by taking road kill- as long as it has no flies all over it or already eaten by some other animal, it will be fine.  We picked up a load of phesants off the road last year, and had them for sunday dinner!  they were actually amazing, really nice  ;)  ;)

I haven't cooked a chicken since I got the girls 4 months ago. Cant even look at the wee baldy things in the Supermarket (unless it's in bread crumbs).  Haven't cooked fish with skin on since I started fishing 3 years ago (unless it's in bread crumbs) so there is no chance of me eating a squished pheasant ever  ??? lol
