Caterpillars, slugs and snails, whitefly, cabbage root fly, club root, the hastle to grow Brassicas is amazing, I removed some debris netting the other day and it was snowing whitefly, slugs in my cauli crowns, snails on the leaves.

I think Brassicas are the most challanging things to grow !

I think so too!!

Y'know, there's a guy two plots up from me, and he uses absolutely NOTHING on his brassicas- all are left out in the open, while everyone elses plot is a sea of netting...
And you should see his brassicas!!!! His cabbages are immense! Lovely rich foliage- not a spot or blot or nibble... they look like they just stepped off the front cover of a seed packet...

I DON'T KNOW HOW HE DOES IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm thinking we need to corner him in his shed, shine a torch in his face and do some police style questioning to get some answers out of him!!! If he breaks, I'll let you know what he says!

There are farmer's fields full of cabbages round here, also all out in the open. I wonder what they are using to keep the blighters off?

My guess is nematodes of some description.
I have to admit to watching him out of the corner of my eye when he's there working, and have never seen him spray a thing.
But however he manages to keep slugs at bay, I have no idea. Not a pellet to be seen.
Must be nematodes??!!

I think that there are not many slugs on farmers land, no where for them to hide compared to the allotments on my site, I fancy a walk in a farmers field of brassicas just to see if any whitefly apper in clouds like they do around my plots.......just dont fancy being chased off with his shotgun.
