At uni I lived with two chinese girls who always shared the food they made with me (they thought as the only other girl in the house I should eat with them and not the boys - odd but also kind of sweet that they included me) so I often ate things without looking closely and quickly to be polite but thankfully balut was never on the menu otherwise that would have had to be a refusal! I have to say they made far more use of the meat/food they bought than the rest of us in the house and were both tiny and healthy girls while the rest of us bloated though uni so there must be health and diet benefits to the food they ate and the way they cooked.

Different foods for different cultures, how many of us these days would bleed our cattle and mix it with oatmeal?that was one of the staple foods for the highland clansmen?

ive eaten lots of different food stuffs from shark to buffalo but id have to be hungry to eat one of those embryo eggs.

At work i often have roll mop herrings,i just love them.I work with quite a few Asian guys and they were in deep discussion about my roll mops, they were convinced that i was eating snakes and they really turned their noses up at the roll mop,i let the joke run for a while including telling them how i trapped the snakes and put them in Vodka before i ate them, the guys were looking quite green as they listened to my story.I eventually pointed out that it was pickled fish. :D

Years ago when we had a big family gathering I had just bought my first two Highland heifers.  All the family thought they were lovely :)
Then one of them said ' but what are you going to do with them, what are they for?
' We 're going to eat their babies ' I said.
Everyone was so shocked but anyone who eats meat does it all the time.

Some foods do better in the countries to which they are exported than in their country of origin - even if they may lose quite a bit in translation - for example see the truth about Japanese cuisine
The Dales - probably fingerprint marks where God's hand touched the world

' We 're going to eat their babies ' I said.

I love that, it is so true! But shocking to say it out loud :D

The more people learn about the origin and welfare of what they are eating, the better. I have had people say to me that they couldn't eat my hen's eggs as they will only buy shop-bought ones. What the....?
I also know people with ducks as pets who refuse to eat the eggs, but will eat their chickens' eggs? mad logic if you ask me.
