I got mine today, they are wonderful. Go on the BHWT site and go to the 'rescue some hens' section and it will give you contact details to your nearest coordinator. Contact them and they will send you an email, outlining the care that will be required. If you're still interested, contact them again and they'll reserve as many as you want. They'll then send you an email with details of the next rescue, directions, things you'll need etc, then you just turn up on the day and take your girlies home. They want donations for the hens (usually £5 each), they say donations, but it's sort of expected. There's another rescue in September, so if you want some soon, get in touch.
If you cant get the regional coordinators contact number off the site, phone the careline and they'll give you the number. I live in West Bromwich and had to fetch my girls from coventry, so be prepared to travel to get them.
The site was probably down today because the number we were given to check that the rescue had gone ahead wasnt working, so everyone must have been looking on the site hoping for some info.
Need any more help, dont hesitate to get in touch xxx
Many pets, a bloke and 2 kids....help!!!

Oh thank you very much for all the helpful info  :D

I'm near Manchester and I'm sure there'll be areas near me that can sort me out.

I'm going to have a look now at the sites you have suggested,

Do you have any pictures of your girlies Dollybird?  I know they can look in a sorry state at first  :(

Thanks again xx

working on pics (waiting for daughter) not good with tecnology oopps.  they were a lot better than we expected, we got 8 on saturday just gone,  3 are bald round neck and  quite a bit of body, 2 are in pretty good shape the other 3 range in between.it was love at first sight and not done any housework or watch telly since, they are fasinating to watch. they were stronger than i thought they would be and we had 2 eggs in the boxes when we got them home, and we had 4 yesterday we didnt think they would lay for a few days. they have stopped diving into the nest boxes when i go near with there backs to me.they now look interested in things around them. jackie
