oooo in a strange way Im so glad its not just me!

Maris Piper - Mush
Kestrel - Mush
Rooster - Ok, but i roasted these, bit dry and what i call flaky inside!

Think I shall try roasting the maris and kestrel, looks like we'll be living on roasties!! I'll also try leaving them a bit longer after I've dug up until I cook them.

I realise that they cook quicker than shop bought ones, but didnt have any probs last year, but they were different varieties and also seed Potatoes were bought from a different place. I've also grown them this year on eth other side of my plot so it could be the soil, as it varies quite a bit across my plot.

Any reccomendations for through the winter varieties as I've got some spare land ready for them to go in!
I'm a vegetable virgin! All advice offered very welcome!!

You don't get through the winter potatoes. One whiff of frost and they've had it.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Have to agree Kestrel just fall apart in the pot and end up as a soggy uneatable mush.  No problem with the other varieties so far.

Steaming is a very good alternative.

Potatoes that break up while being boiled are excellent for soup :)
