I'm having one of them years...

Everything is going in late or just plain refusing to grow!!! >:(

Apart from my goosegogs that have gone mad and need trimming - but that's another thread  ;)

I grew some Swift F1 last year. The ones I planted out really early were very short, compared to those I grew a bit later on.

Dunno if its the same for yours, but given that yours were out early then maybe?

At that time of the afternoon?

Never drink & type, you might spill some and it makes the keyboard sticky.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Thanks Kristen - did your small plants develop edible cobs? Still hoping mine will be okay.

Mine are shorties too. I think it's the slow start earlier in the year.

I sowed two different types at the same time (too early) and they were sitting around for too long before I could get them in the ground. Then we had a light frost and cold snaps all the way to the middle of last month. One lot that I put in the polytunnel are up to the roof of the tunnel and the ones I sowed outside are about two foot tall. Both sets of plants are at a similar stage , maybe the ones in the tunnel are slightly ahead, but I wouldn't worry about them. You're more likely to have success with the ones that are in now than from starting from scratch  :D

Yes they were fine - although I think the taller / second batch had better cobs, although I can't exactly remember - but I do remember eating the first batch and no one complaining!
