potatoes - earlies or main?
« on: June 23, 2007, 09:22 »
Hi, I was given some potatotes ready for planting in April by a friend.  She was given them by someone else and had no idea what type they were or whether they were early or main crop.  Mine are in flower now and some of the leaves are yellowing.  I dug up one plant to see if they were ready, I found about 6 potatoes a couple a bit bigger than an egg the rest smaller.  I also found lots of long white roots with what looked like tiny potatoes - does this mean they are main crop potatoes, and if so when should I dig them up?
Thanks Juliet

i put my earlies in - in feb
if yours were meant for april - maybe they are second earlies or main crops.

i would be tempted to leave them for another 3/4 weeks before digging up
any more

6 spuds is a very poor yield off of 1 plant - be patient
