Thought i would ask. My local Wilkos are selling off bags of onion sets at 27p (contains about 60 bulbs) Is it too late to get them in. I was thinking of just putting them in anyway, but will they take and will i need to cover them with a cloche or something. Or is it all a waste of time as its now too late to plant?

I would say that it is too late.
I put mine in a month ago and the old boys told me they were too late then

Yes.  Too late.  We are almost at the longest day.  As the day length shortens onions go over from growing leaf to dying back and bulking up their bulbs.  These would have no chance of putting on enough leaf to grow a bulb.
