R-Com 20 Pro USB - I bought it - gulp!
« on: May 28, 2010, 12:51 »
I know - I am completely crazy but I saw what the second hand one were going for so I reckon it's not much of a risk.

Anyone near me (East Midlands) want to come and help me have some fun with it?  :D

Wow... from a poly box to an all-out bells-and-whistles jobbie :D  :tongue2:

I have an R-Com 20 (just the standard version though!) and I can report it is very easy to use, very easy to clean etc.

I had a bad hatch on my first attempt (5 of 15 LF and 2 of 6 bantams) but the LF eggs had a very traumatic journey on my first attempt, and will be setting a new batch of eggs on Sunday.

Good luck with the USB, you'll have to let me know how you get on with it... It looks like an interesting concept :)

Thanks Casey

I have just arranged with the lady that had the Lavendar Araucanas to collect some eggs after she's filled her incubator.

I will just have time to get some going before I go on holiday and leave hubby and my friend to look after them.  Also a few black silkies and some cream legbars.

Can't wait to get back off holiday :)

The one thing with a fully auto incy, is that you don't need to look after the eggs... you just need to make sure the water is topped up for the humidity control (fill the tank about every three days) and that's it!

You'll be back for the important part :D

Though I guarantee you'll be racing towards it every time it starts singing at you every time it turns the eggs over (maybe you can switch it off on your posh version ;))

I have the none USB version and the one thing I would say is that before you set it off with eggs in it, check the temp and humidity and calibrate it if needed. I kept having really early hatches and it turned out that although the incy said 37.5 C the temp was nearer 39 C which certainly explained the problem!!!

Otherwise pretty easy to use.
Be like a duck. Calm on the surface but always paddling like the dickens underneath.
