My pear tree is about 3 years old, and, like last year, starts out with lovely fresh green leaves.  These then develop little red spots on them, which look raised.  They spread from leaf to leaf and ultimately the tree looks miserable, and the pears fail to thrive.  Any ideas?  I'm thinking its an insect but not sure.  I'll try to get a photo up.

MMMmmm possibly - at the moment the red spots are vivid red and aren't blurry.

Sounds more like peach leaf curl which will also affect pears and cherries.

Tallulah I know what you mean, my tree has it to and its not like any of the things described here. I have looked through all my books and cant find anything like it. I will try and get a photo. It would be interesting to find out what it is.
