The raised bed was made last November buy lifting and turning the grass, covering with layers of paper and filled up with a mix of top soil and compast.

Now I have loads of patches of the below? at first I thought the grass had managed to get through but after digging some up I suspect its deffo not grass.

Does anyone have any ideas what these are? and can I just pluck them all out and carry on regardless?? (This weekend was going to be a big 'plant out day'

Looks a little like wheat or another grain plant, do you feed the wild birds ??

Is that a bulb at the end? Garlic? Grape hyacinth, even. Which we have springing up all over the place.

that's grain, probably from bird food

I have to agree tis grain I have it sprouting every where the bird feeders were this winter
