Hi we have got 5 hens in our garden, 2 have decided not to go in the coop on a night and they roost on top of the coop instead:( We are concerned that a fox might get them in the night so we are putting them in.  They go in during the day to lay eggs.  Does anybody know why they have suddenly decided to do this ( they are coming up to a year old!)

They could just be being awkward but it's worth checking out the coop for red mites as an infestation would make the chooks reluctant to go in.
