How about I bring the compost indoors for a bit - the beds havent got any compost in yet so it would be the same stuff that I use in the greenhouse anyway!

Hi

I'm on the side of those saying wait a bit.

I have sown my chilli's indoors & a few tom's, but I have room to keep them till May.

I have tried a few things in my unheated conservatory, about 6 dg on most mornings, but both the raddish & cos lettuce are growing tall & stragly, so not hopefull/maybe bin them.
The carrots, spring onions, spinach & rocket are just showing, so hoping better light in March will help out a bit.

It was just an experiment really, will be waiting in future.

Thats interesting to know. Maybe I will wait another couple of weeks.

The Greenhouse is no warmer than outside at the minute. Today got to a magical 7 degrees! Woo Hoo! It's not been above 4 degrees in the greenhouse for weeks!

Getting soooooooo frustrated.  ::) :lol:

It's not just the temperature, you have to remember the light at this time of year as well.

The days are still quite short and the intensity low. A double whammy.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

i feel that this long winter is all my fault - If I hadn't started a plot I reckon it would be tropical by now!

It's a matter of patience.

I knew if we waited long enough someone would crack & confess!

I've worn out the pages in the December 'what to do' in THAT book I got that I haven't been able to do yet.  Do you think it is a 'cunning plan' by John to make us buy his book twice?

Well finally ran out of patience today and planted some lettuce, radish, chive, toms, peppers and onions in seed trays indoors.

Just couldn't wait any longer.......

Have sown a few lettuces in pots on the kitchen window ledge, they can stay there till they can go outside, or till they are big enough to eat...no worries :)

Nedd to spray and clear the weeds from my plot, have only just managed to get motivated to get started. Have 2 weeks off work in about 3 weeks so it will be all systems go (depending on the weather) I'm going to start some onions and toms in modules and might even sow some leeks in a contianer this week

My fingers are so itchy I've scratched them raw!, and it's still raining
There is no better show of antisipation than a man sowing seeds in a field.
