Pink Fur Apple,
Is that a variant of Pink Fir Apple?

I bet it makes a fluffy mash! :tongue2:
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

I'm trying Anya as a salad potato this year.  One of its parents is Pink Fir Apple so it's similar but without the bobbly bits that make it difficult to clean (or scrape if you like them without their skins)  :tongue2:

My favourite all rounder is Marfona. I think it has a lovely flavour and texture. We did seem to have quite a bit of slug damage last year so think we will try nemaslugs this year.

We really liked Maris Bard for a first early.

I think it comes down to personal preference though as I don't like a floury potato.

Looking forward to trying some new varities this year. If any come close to marfona I will be very pleased indeed  :D

Hi

Desiree.  You get a good crop, no potato damage and they can stay in the ground until November.

Without question, Vivaldi: nutty, a hint of sweet-savouryness, great flavour depth and beyond perfect for roasting and mashing. And so expensive to buy in the rare supermarkets that sell them that growing them is even more of a joy. No spud comes even close when it comes to roasting for me.

Quite a few votes for Kestrel.
I notice it is a 2nd early, how does it store?
I need a spud that will store and be okay past Christmas, can Kestrel do this?

I've found they store well. Quiet a few folk grow them for maincrop.

Smashing - I was looking for an extra variety to plant. Vivaldi it is!

I really did like Vivaldi last year as well. Couldn't find it in smallish quantity this year so am trying Kestrel instead...we'll see :)
