rotavator add on tools
« on: February 08, 2010, 18:40 »
hi,

just wondering if somoene could give me a bit of help and guidence.

id like to make up a plough attachemnt and hoe/hoes for my trusty, iv been looking and havent seen any anywhere that i could maybe use or adapt to fit and work.

i have a mig welder and can weld (sort of) so if someone dont mind pointing me in the right direction on what i need, where from and the basics of what im doing i should beable to get a working result.

I went to farm supply shops to try and get plough sheares but they were all to big for my machine. But your trusty could use a bigger plough. The mould board might be difficult to make.
Something similar to the Nipplo matsu might be possible. But when I have made equipment I found cutting gear a must because of the size of metal needed. I would have thought getting a plough for a trusty would be easy. A site more dedicated to vintage machinery might be more helpful. Or a two wheeled tractor ploughing match. If you look on you tube there's all sorts of kit ideas.
always have a target
and an objective.

thanks,

i will try have another look about then.

want to get all the work done and bits made for it so over next winter i can have the whole thing sandblasted and rainted up right.

i have cutting equipment from 4 1/2" grinder to 12" makita disc cutter (old chap is a builder) so im lucky realy.

im not sure if i want to do the imposible but id like to leave the rota box on and have the plough behind it (only reason is that i sometimes lay lawns and also use it or that)

thanks

nathan

ah ok got you

no not got them.

i think want is near impossible realy, im not a engineer by any means for a start.

theres a howard plough on ebay at the moment but dont think i could do much with that.

i was told there was factory add-ons for the trusty but theres next to nothing on the net about them anywhere so i guess the company wasnt that big or didnt make many earthquakes

Earthquakes were in the later years
I do not have the figures to hand but the trusty tractors were a huge prodution run.
Try a search on VHGCM

is that the tractorbox forum? if so i joined last night and been chatting to a guy who said because theres not much clearence under the machine it would only be used to turn top soil and plough about 6" depth total, so thinking id be better getting it running a1 as a rotavator rather than trying to get it to do something thats not realy any diffrent than its doing now.

can i use a ridger to make a trench to plant potato's in ect?

if so im thinking that id be better making up something like that to trail behind it as it would be more use to me than replacing the rota-box with a plough that will do less depth.

well where shall i start with this
i know a great deal about agreculture and agrecultral machines. the history and historic antique tractors. if your still thinking about ploughs maybe look for a fergusson plough if you want to but one. i dont know much about the little tractor crawler thingy mabob but if its got a 3pt hitch it could be handy. when you are saying about potatoes and making furrows ect for making a furrow for the potatoes to go in maybe look for a middle buster or look to make one shouldnt be to hard. and also a tool bar might be good to look into it basicaly just a bar that goes onto the hitch of your tractor and you mount tools onto it.this could possibly just be me rambling on and might mean absalutly nothink as its a crawler i think i dont know much about it.
but ill post a video of this tool bar in action.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eJXs9iODXQg
you probably want to fast forward it abit ;)
