Lime question
« on: January 31, 2010, 18:28 »
Could anyone give me some advice about adding lime?  My brussels were useless last year so I want to get the soil right for them this year.  I bought a PH test from Wilko (the type you insert into the soil), Ive tested various areas and its showing acid.  I assume from this that I need to apply lime to raise the PH but was wondering if its OK to just throw some into the planting hole; I saw this on 'The big dig', or should I lime the whole area?

I just lime the whole brassica area. Putting lime in the potting hole helps to offset clubroot.
