Silver skinned onions are generally  grown from specific seeds: -
Barletta (Marshalls)
Paris (Suttons)
Pompeii (Thompson & Morgan)
Last year I grew White Lisbon spring onions throughout the year in succession for salads. The ones I didn’t use were left in the ground (by accident rather than by design) and they made great little pickling onions.

Borettana are also good, a flattish onion specifically for pickling.
SY300 is the commercial variety.
There used to be one called brown something that was a good pickler.
I had some success this year picklingthe smaller Long Red Florence bulbs too

This was asked recently.

The name says it on the tin!

Simple to grow from cheap seed.

Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Thanks all and DD for Paris silverskin link.

I sent my partner to the shops for some ready pickled silverskin onions in a jar, but not knowing any better as he doesn't eat them he got silverskin onions in a brown vinegar, which I have never seen before.  Just not the same.  If I do any they will be in white vinegar.

Found a photo.

They're the two rows, slightly lighter green, left of centre.
