Any thoughts on this....

I currently use a 100w red bulb in a large reflecting holder..... Keeps them nice and cozy... 

Been thinking about changing to the ebay type electric hen (not the official big one)...

Anyone got one and what do you think of them

You will probably pay less from a supplier than on Ebay where they seem to go for more than you would pay from somewhere like this link.

They are a lot cheaper to run and seem to be effective.
You will use about a quarter of your electricity yu use with the bulb.
Legs are terrible though and look flimsy although they do the job.

I use electric hens and much prefer them to bulbs, a big plus as DOR mentioned is the less electricity they use

And the chicks can sit on top of them as well as underneath!
