So do potato onions avoid the dreaded white rot? Evidence on my site is that walking onions do - unsurprisingly they are now spreading as everyone seems to have white rot problems.

Aelf if you pm zazen999 and ask really nicely, she may be able to send you some  ;) I did a swapsie with her for them and have got them started in the greenhouse ready for planting out in the spring  :D

In pots or trays? Is it a cold greenhouse?

Only want to know so I can make a start  ;)

I've got my walking onions in recycled white bedding 6 pack trays. They are shooting well.

My potato onoins are snoozing in the shed for now but last year I started them in 9cm pots just because I only had a few. Next spring I'm going to do some pots and try some direct sown  :D

My potato onions are in pots and have sprouted just about.... I'm planning on putting them out next weekend into a mixed row of odd alliums, one of the tree onions and the Welsh onions will be sharing a row.... won't be moving the Welsh till spring and the trees are in pots too ATM.... would like it to be less wet though

BTW, if the other tree onions have the same sort of root systems as Catawissas then they will need care moving.... those root systems are very large....
