HELP PLEEAASSSEE - bleeding chicken
« on: September 15, 2009, 17:26 »
Hi have posted a few times and been made v welcome, i have a problem and hope someone can help.
I have 4 bantams, they are about 23 weeks now, one has been laying for a few weeks now except the last week, the feathers on her back had gone a bit fluffy and i thought she may be starting to moult?  they are free ranging in the afternoons and i have just noticed that she has a bald patch where the feathers are coming out that looks really sore!! what do i do???????????  i havent noticed any other hens pecking her, but i am not out there all the time and when i do go out they all run over to me and stop whatever else theyre doing in  the hope of corn etc... is there something i can put on it, do i need to seperate her? i am really worried any help greatly appreciated :(
Owner of 1 messy husband, 2 messy boys, 2 dirty dogs, 2  smelly cats and 4 little bantams!

Have they got a boy in with them, he could be doing it ???

Is it red raw or just red? If red raw I would pop some germolene on it, if it is just red them I would purple spray her as it would seem more of a feather pecking type injury :(

I think you'll be ok with the savlon :)

Give them all a good check over for any nasties and get some spray asap. I wouldn't separate unless they are really being nasty to her as you could end up with a bigger problem when you reintroduce :(
