who is eating my leeks?
« on: May 12, 2009, 08:25 »
my leeks have been out for about a month now, not much growth as yet ,about the size of drinking straw. nothing has bothered them until now and unless someone has gone over them with a lawn mower then my money is on pigeons.

You could be right there is a rabbit prooof fence but unfortunately they are on the wrong side of it. So i guess its good bye leeks then. Dont know why they singled mine out though unless they are getting there own back for me evicting them last year.

they might well be ok. Mine were grazed off completely but were fine below soil level so grew on. Once the rabbits have other stuff to eat they'll leave them alone. Like your brassicas for example  :D :D

I was hopeing they might recover and if they want to come back for my brassicas they had better bring wire cutters as i have them covered to fend of the marauding pigeons.

Cover your leeks with some mesh or net ,the rabbits kept grazing ours and the garlic until we rabbit proofed the plots with wire fencing. If you have some fencing can you repair it,to keep them off .
