broody hen

my light sussex has started to be broody. i have remove her from the nest box.in the day time ,in to her own box. and let her out 3times a day she gos back with the others at night i dont wont chicks and i remove her egg when one is layed this is the first time i have had a broody ..am i doing the right thing and how long will it last...need some help :unsure:

Chuck her off the nest and block the nest boxes up so she cant sit, is what I would do.

Sounds ok to me Garry :)

The only snag with blocking off the nest box Rough is it then stops the others from getting in to lay :( Unless you just block it after they've done their bit :D

If you carry on with what your doing Garry she'll get the message eventually, just watch the others I've found broodiness highly contagious :lol:

if i keep the door closed the other ones cant get in to lay .i keep her in a make up box untill 2pm then let her out ..she makes a lot of noise and all her feathers stand up she also gos for me ... :wacko:now she is trying to get out this is her first time ::)

she is a light sussex 9 mounth old her eggs are still small she lays one a day 8)

I wish my Light Sussex would go broody! I suppose it is sod's law that if you want them to they don't and vice versa. ::) ::)
